To many of his supporters, Luzzi’s charm reflects authenticity rarely seen in Ugandan politics.

Born to Hajj Badru Kafuuma of Kakiri Luwaga in Busiro, Wakiso District, and the late Hadijah Nantaba of Kibanga Village, Bukandula in Gomba District, Luzzi rose from modest beginnings marked by hard work and ambition.

He attended SOS Hermann Gmeiner Schools, Kawempe Muslim Secondary School, Mityana Secondary School, and Lubiri Secondary School, excelling in the sciences before pursuing Orthopedic Medicine at Mulago Paramedical School.

He later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement and Logistics Management from Nkumba University and is currently studying Law at Victoria University Uganda.

Before entering politics, Luzzi built a thriving business empire spanning multiple sectors — gold and sand mining, stone quarrying, mechanized farming, agro-processing, tourism, and travel.

He is the Founder and Director of Ssebo Food Industries Uganda Ltd, the company behind Ssebo Pure Maize Flour, a brand now recognised in many Ugandan households.

His Ssebo Pure Gold and Jewelry Centre at Serena Hotel Kampala serves elite clients seeking premium gold and jewelry.

Through Ssebo International Group, Luzzi’s business footprint extends to the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Africa, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, China, and the UAE.

His investments also include a sports academy in Hammersmith, London, nurturing young Ugandan footballers aged 10 to 16.

Luzzi’s passion for sports once led him to serve as Marketing and Sales Manager and Head of Public Relations for the Uganda Police Football Club, where he helped rebrand the team and strengthen its commercial partnerships.

Politically, Luzzi’s journey has been marked by resilience and reinvention. He began as a mobiliser for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Mityana and Mubende, later contested for Mityana Municipality MP in 2021, and briefly joined the Democratic Party (DP) before charting an independent course.

Unlike traditional politicians who rely on long manifestos, Luzzi’s approach blends humour, street-level engagement, and practical solutions.

His social media videos — often unscripted reflections on Kampala’s challenges — have made him a favourite among young voters and the city’s business community.

Behind his playful persona lies a clear policy agenda for Kampala Central: improving roads, drainage, and street lighting through transparent contracting; creating youth jobs via entrepreneurship funds; promoting city tourism and branding to make Kampala clean, safe, and vibrant; streamlining trade and transport to reduce congestion; and enforcing environmental protection in quarrying while generating employment.

Luzzi faces strong competition from political heavyweights, including National Unity Platform Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya, Kampala Minister Minsa Kabanda of the NRM, Uganda Boxing Federation President Moses Muhangi, and Suzan Kushaba.

They are all vying to succeed outgoing MP and Ecological Party of Uganda President Muhammad Nsereko, who has represented the constituency since 2011.

Still, Luzzi’s growing appeal among voters disillusioned with conventional politics sets him apart. His message of economic empowerment and accountability resonates with Kampala’s entrepreneurial spirit.

To his supporters, Abraham Luzzi is not just another candidate — he is a symbol of possibility, a businessman redefining what it means to lead in Uganda’s capital city.
